Sections in Guitar Pro allow you to structure a score by clearly identifying its different parts. Discover how to add, edit, and easily navigate between them to optimize your work.
We will see how to use sections in Guitar Pro. These markers help structure a score and make it easier to find your way around. Let’s get started right away.
Sections are markers that can be placed on a score to easily identify its different parts: introduction, verse, chorus, etc. They can be displayed as letters (A, B, C…) or as text (“Bridge”, “Solo”, etc.).
To add a section, first select a bar, as a section is always associated with a bar. You can go through the "Sections" menu and choose "Edit...", use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Insert, click on the section icon in the editing bar, or right-click on the master track and choose "Insert a section."
After selecting a bar, use Shift + Insert. A window opens where you can choose a letter like "A" and confirm. Once repeated with other letters, Guitar Pro automatically places the sections above the staff and adds a double bar line to indicate their beginning.
If you want to add text in addition to the letter, fill in the "Name" field. You can also leave the letter field empty and enter only the text. To customize even further, you can enclose the text in brackets to frame it.
Once the sections are in place, they appear in the master track. To move from one section to another, use Ctrl + Alt + Left to go back and Ctrl + Alt + Right to move forward.
If you want to customize the appearance of section text, go to File, then Stylesheets. In the window that opens, select Texts & Styles, scroll down to "Section," and adjust the settings as needed.
You now have all the keys to effectively structure your scores with sections in Guitar Pro. I hope this guide and video will be useful to you.
